Grammy’s Life in Pictures

Pictures from Lauren’s 3rd Birthday Party

One of the kid’s father in Lauren’s class was kind enough to give me a CD with a nunch of pictures he took at Lauren’s birthday party this past weekend.  Here’s the links to the Facebook galleries:

Lauren Lately: Spring 2009

Here’s a few quick-hits about what Lauren’s been up to lately:

  • Somewhere she picked up “Waaaaaiiiiiiiit a minute!”
  • If she does something goofy she’ll go, “Silly Lauren!”
  • If Lauren does something wrong and we say something to her about it, she’ll sometimes reply with a rapidly stated, “WhatttidIdo?”
  • She knows all of her letters and is getting into the habit of calling out the letters in many of the signs she sees such as the stop signs on the way to school in the morning.
  • She’s a professional at her tricycle and loves riding it up and down the street and around the kitchen.  Sigh…
  • We start soccer today and swimming in a few weeks!
  • She’s fully potty trained (though her wiping could use some work), and she can almost entirely undress and dress herself
  • We’re in a very big “Why?” phase to which Mommy and Daddy do their best to be patient before pulling out the “Just because!”
  • Bed time is going very smoothly these days, particularly when Daddy is the one to put her bed.  Lauren and I agree that there’s something about Mommy that’s too exciting to want to leave!
  • Lauren is also very into babies - moreso real ones than dolls these days… which hopefully she will keep up until September!

Parenting Tip: Escape school easily!

After a few days of Lauren being less than pleased that I was leaving school after dropping her off in her room, I somehow discovered that if I asked her to open the door for me, she would let me out and then go back into the room and forget I was even there!  Now not only are drop-offs going more smoothly, I have my own personal little door-opener!

Parenting Tip: Tire her out!

After a recent spell of struggling to get Lauren to go to sleep, I decided to employ tiring tactics.  After dinner, Lauren and I have a solid 20 minutes of in-house cardio.  We run around in circles, we jump up and down, we dive off the couch into a pile of pillows (the “cloud”), etc.  Not only is it good exercise for both Lauren AND Daddy, but she’s been going to be much easier and sleeping much longer since we started this!
